Halloween has to be one of my favorite holidays. Maybe it’s the fact that you get to pretend to be someone you are not. Maybe it is because as a kid I never really got to celebrate it, so I am trying to make up for lost time with my kids. Maybe it is just because I know that means Christmas is around the corner! Or maybe it is all the fun parties that are thrown and that can be thrown. Either way, I love it!

Me, being the planner that I am, never argues to throwing one. So, once again, I partnered up with Expo Party Rentals to see what I could do for him. They just came out with children’s tables and chairs. They are so cute.
Orange and black seem to be the normal colors everyone goes for. It says, “Halloween”. I wanted to be a bit different. I opted for Expo’s lime green and grape for the colors. So, when my mother-in-law went shopping, like she does so often, she could help but check out the Halloween section and see the many treasures. She ended getting the darling green glitter pumpkin you see on the kids table. She also got the most darling Frankenstein favor boxes that I filled with pumpkin bubbles, “No s’more tricks just treats” s’mores kit that I made along with some Halloween goldfish.
What girl growing up didn't pretend to have a
"Tea" party? I know I did. I would get all of my stuffed
animals and dolls set up at the table. Then I’d set out all of my grandma's tea
cups and saucers—although I never really understood why we had to have a mini
plate to hold our cups. I pretend to have "tea time" like the Queen
of England would do. I would even stick my pinky out and everything.

Recently I was called to be an activities day leader with someone who
instantly became a dear friend. We planned out the rest of this year with so
many fun activities that, won’t only be fun, but will also help our young women
pass off their Faith in God award.

One of the activities we planned was a "Tea" party. So, we
partnered up with Expo Party Rentals and transformed the nursery room. We
draped the walls with beautiful draping and some pink accent lights to bring
more warmth and color to the room. Nobody could have known under the beautiful
decorations there was a church’s nursery room.
We decorated the tables beautifully with lilac table clothes
and a lace overlay. What tea party doesn't have lace? We set the tables with a
formal table setting using Expo's double rimmed gold china and flatware and
water goblets for a modern twist. Of course we had to have some kind of
pink in there somewhere, so we tied pink in with the napkins and the chair
sashes.

Flower, oh the flowers! We got to try out the new florist at expo. She did
amazing putting together different vintage glass bottle pieces. Her
arrangements added just the right amount of classic to a modern tea party. They
were just beautiful.
Of course we had to have hats. Kelli, the other leader, put together some
super cute hats for the girls to decorate. It was great watching the girls
decorate the hats to their personalities, beautiful and unique. And, for the
first time, I wasn't the only one in the room with a hat on!

We had a lot of fun designing our event, learning about etiquette with the
girls, and put together cute hats. But my favorite memory from our event was
seeing the reaction of the girls when we finally let them come into the room to
see the amazing set up we had put together for them. They could tell their
leaders truly cared for them and wanted to make sure they had a great time.

My Little Man is in SCHOOL!!!!! How is this possible? I keep looking at him and seeing my little baby boy that I brought home from the hospital, what seems like yesterday. He was so excited. I couldn't even get a decent picture of him looking at the camera.
It is so cute that every morning he wakes up and asks, "am I going to school today?" He really enjoys going and seeing his teacher and all the other kids. I sure hope that last all year long. Korean Beef and Broccoli

Korean Beef is a very standard dish. Just about every Chinese restaurant
sells it but it's usually made with flank steak and sauteed with
broccoli. My recipe is less expensive and easier because it uses ground
beef and some really simple ingredients and I served this with steamed
broccoli which was delicious. On that note . .

1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 - 1/2 cup brown sugar (I like it sweet so I usually do closer to 1/2 cup)
1/4 cup soy sauce (I use low-sodium)
1 Tablespoon sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced (see note)
1/2 - 1 teaspoon crushed red peppers (to desired spiciness)
salt and pepper
1 bunch green onions, diced (don't skip this!)

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and brown hamburger with garlic in
the sesame oil. Drain most of the fat and add brown sugar, soy sauce,
ginger, salt and pepper and red peppers. Simmer for a few minutes to
blend the flavors. Serve over steamed rice and top with green onions.

So, I know I am late at doing this post but hey, better late then never.

March 4th I was scheduled for my regular weekly apt til giving birth. Michael took the morning off for my apt as well. As I was getting ready it was just like any other apt, but Aaron wasn't awake yet (8am) so I asked Michael if I could just go on my own and it would be a lot faster. There wasn't anything real special about this apt.
When I got in with my doctor, she asked how I was feeling. Of course I felt great! I had been having contractions off and on for about a week now but nothing that would say that I was in labor. So, I joked around with her telling her I was hoping that she would check me and tell me I was far enough along to be sent across the parking lot to the birthing center to have my baby. She just laughed and said, "we'll see!". Well after going in and seeing how far dialated I was, turns out I was at a 4, she just said, "okay I'll have the nurse draw up your papers".
I didn't quite understand what she meant so when the nurse came and gave me my paper I asked her what exactly I was doing with the papers. She told me I was going across the street to get checked in to have my baby that day!!!! I was sooooooo excited! I called mike and he laughed at me cause I was telling him about me just joking around with the dr, but it being real. The funny thing was, I didn't feel any signs of labor. (it was great!) So, I told Michael to take his time and finish his homework and gave him a list of things to grab, my hospital bag the babies hospital bag, my pillow, and a blanket, makeup bag, etc..
When I walked into the birthing hospital The lady checking me in almost didn't believe I was in labor cause I was just acting like it was another day, no pain. To be honest, it was just like another day only with a baby coming, no pain at all.
Fast forwarding about an hour.

Sarah had picked up Aaron and was BEYOND excited that Harper was coming that day, but I told her and Michael not to really tell anyone except our parents just incase Harper was on a different schedule then the Dr had in mind. So, our parents knew and were all excited.
When Michael finally arrived with all my gear and makeup, I immediately wanted to put my makeup on cause I didn't want to look bad in the pictures again like with Aaron's birth. Again the nurses all laughed at me and had never really seen anyone so not in pain when this far into labor and not having an epidural. I did end up getting one just cause I didn't want to feel her come out, but as far as labor pains went, I didn't feel my contractions even though according to the nurses they were very strong.
serve immediately.

For all of these I found it easiest to put together a grocery list of everything you need from each recipe and the amount needed. Then I took the list and marked off things that I already had in my cabinets and frig/freezer (this time around I already had more then half the chicken I needed for the recipes and most of the spices.) Once that is taken care of I went shopping...I have most seasonings needed except a couple that I had to buy and I had enough chicken for a 4 of the meals. I ended up spending $60ish on everything except chicken. So adding Chicken to the mix I would say about $80 for 7 meals bagged and frozen!

When putting them all together I found it easier to put each recipes ingredient list together in separate piles to make myself a little more organized. I labeled my zip lock bags, with what it was and how to cook it, along with if it needed anything else added to it. Then did the recipes one by one. Some ppl would find it easier to do all the cutting of veggies and what not first then do it but I just found it a little confusing.
Below are just a few of the recipes!!!
few slices of of Ginger

Add
all ingredients to a Freezer Gallon Ziplock Bag! Don’t stres about
trimming up the Chicken Thighs too much, it’s really not needed! One of
the reasons I love crockpotting Chicken Thighs is because the fat melts and
only adds to the taste!! Once bag is closed with all the air out use your
hands to mix all the ingredients and make sure the Thighs are sitting in a good
sauce!!

12
oz bottle of BBQ Sauce

1/2
Cup Brown Sugar (I like mine really sweet, so I’ll usually do a little bit more
then this)

1/4
Cup Vinegar

teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper

the chicken is cleaned, I like to rub it with the Cayenne Pepper. But, if

to mash all the ingredients together!

On our last day there we wanted to take advantage of it being so Sunny! It was so beautiful! Cold, but Beautiful! It has been so long since we have been to a beach. Living in TN we are so FAR from the beach we haven't been able to see it, touch it, or feel it. It was great being able to just enjoy it.
Michael and I had the opportunity to take a family vacation to Florida over Thanksgiving. The first few days were taken care of by Michael's work because of the conference he was presenting at for world language teachers. We stayed in the fancy hotel and ate at some AMAZING restaurants. Friday night we went to a place called Opa Taverns. OMG it was amazing. The were belly dancers and loud music. The dancers were dancing on the dinner tables with the customers and doing konga lines with them. With it being a Greek restaurant the frequently threw napkins in the air and yelled "OPA!!!" Aaron of course loved it.
Such good Chinese food. It brought us back to Taiwan! They had traditional Chinese music and Aaron loved it.

Sunday of course Aaron and I went to Church. (see the last post for the details.)

Today, Monday, we woke up in our new hotel. It had a great breakfast downstairs for us. So good! After breakfast we went to downtown Disney. It was a blast. Aaron had so much fun! He thought we really were in Disneyworld. (that's good cause we could not afford to go there this time around)

Daddy and Aaron Spent most of the time in the Lego store building things! (as mom sat on the curb wishing she already had her girl so she could do girlie stuff at that time!) We really just enjoyed spending time with each other (a rare things these days).
It has really made me want to get into mine. That is when I remembered that I had someone in my family that has done so much work already. That is when I got of Facebook, yes facebook, and got in contact with someone special!

Today I had the pleasure of meeting someone that I have only met once in my life, when I was somewhere between 8-10. This person is such a sweet spirit and is now sharing that spirit with the Orlando, Florida area as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her name, well, her name is Ann Danes. My Great Aunt on my mom's side. (of course it won't be my father's side since he is not and has not been around. Although, I would LOVE to meet him. Anyways, getting off track!)
Ann is the wife of Don Danes, my Grandfather's brother. Well, in the last year my Grandfather, Carl Danes and my Uncle Danes both passed away. Both of these men I did not get the chance to get know, something I wish I didn't have to say. So today, like I was saying, I got to meet with Ann. When we found out we would be going to Florida for Michael's work for a week and a half, and that she was serving a mission here, I decided to contact her and set up a time for us to me. And that is what we did today. I got to go to church with her, then afterwards, my little family went to her place and had lunch with her. I got to find out that there are so many members of the church on that side and that my Brother and I are not the only active members. I found out that my Grandfather was a bit of a loaner and he really broke my Grandmother's heart when he left, which explains so much when it comes to her and men. She then was able to show me so many great pictures of her side of the family and of my Uncle Roger, who I have also only met once, maybe twice. Along with another Aunt that I had met but her name escapes me at the moment.

We also go tot go on the computer and she showed me a few names in order to get my uncle and Grandfather's family history. I can not wait to be able to continue to work on our family history. Well, Monday I experienced it first hand. I sat my husband down and talked to him to tell him that I was unhappy and questioning our marriage. It broke his heart and mine to see his reaction. I couldn't tell him why or what I was wanting but just that I was unhappy.
We sat and talked for a long time to figure things out. I talked to my brother and another sister in our ward and found out it wasn't really me. EVERYONE goes through it. Today, we are doing great! We took a trip on Saturday to Nashville, TN with just the two of us. It was. Ice to just rekindle the "us" in our relationship.

This last year has been tough and has just taken a toll on us. Michael was so busy with teaching full time, going to school full time for his masters, and being the ward mission leader, that Aaron and I have not seen much of him. We never went to bed together because he had to do his homework and lesson planning and was awake before me to go to work.

Today we are in NC visiting with my brother and his beautiful family til Saturday when we go to a wedding here as well. I am so excited because my brother and his beautiful wife of 15 years went through this same thing. They are such a great example of a wonderful marriage. I am happy to say also that the feeling of wanting out of my marriage is gone.

I love my husband so much and love that after this little ordeal we are both working harder at our marriage. We are going to bed together and trying to make sure we have us time. Here's to another 7 years of marriage and many many more after that!

Vatcher Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03217770512087889420noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356876537211928756.post-71246715671074363742013-05-10T05:58:00.001-07:002013-05-10T05:58:32.296-07:00Happenings...Aaron and I have a lot of time together now that we are in Memphis. It's was not supposed to take this long. I feel like there is a part of my heart that is just breaking. How can this not be happening? Why is this not happening? How much longer am I going to have to deal with this heart ache and longing before I can say "yes I am pregnant with my second child. We couldn't be happier" instead every month I wait in anticipation and cry when I see that it was not going to be that month. Is it really going to take up to a year for me to get pregnant after that birth control? Am I going to be able to have another one at all? Or is my first kid going to be way older then my next?
Every month it frustrates me even more cause I see my sister and other teenagers, and others that didn't want to get pregnant or shouldn't be getting pregnant, and they get pregnant on a one night stand and they have the very thing I want and am trying for. It is so hard to see that and not just want to scream at the top of my lungs with the pain that is filling my heart more and more each month.
Sometimes, it is so hard to hold on to faith when you are praying for something with all your heart and Heavenly Father is just making you wait. He has his reasons and I am sure it will make since when the time comes but for now I can't help but pour my heart out and cry to him every month with one simple question. Why? Why not now? What is going on now or coming up that I can't be pregnant for or have a baby for? I just want answers. But for now I will just continue to ask why? And have faith in my Heavenly Father that he knows what he is doing, but I am still probably going to cry for a while with my monthly disappointment. I have gone from making the best friend I could ever ask for from Heavenly Father to a HUGE move. So let start out with the friend.
Ashley Davenport must have been my ultimate best friend in the pre-exsistance. We met about a month ago at church. She had just moved in and was in the hallway with her beautiful little girl Cordelia or as we call or Cordy. Of course with my son I am ALWAYS in the hallway. Ashley, you could tell is not your typical LDS lady. She didn't grow up in the church, but did find it later in life after a fun and adventurous path, and is now a Great member with an unbelievable testimony of the gospel. As most people know, I am not typical either. We introduced ourselves and found that we have soooooooo much in common and that we should have totally have been twins. She is the friend I have always been looking for. She is just the cutest most loving, and quirky person ever. I love it! Well, of course I knew it had to be too good to be true. Two weeks later Michael gets offered a position as a chinese teacher in MEMPHIS TN!!!!!! Go figure I met someone amazing that I could actually do girl time with, like really girly girl stuff with, and we have to move in 1 week. I was going to be moving away from the best friend I never got. We both cried about it. We did however get to sneak only 1 girl time in there. I introduced her to Charming Charlies! LOVE THAT STORE! Had lunch then went home.

Did I mention that we had to move in 1 week. That was crazy! In that 1 week Mike and I both gave our jobs a 1 day notice to quit and said our good-byes to our fresno jobs and lives. We rushed around packing all of our stuff, contacting movers, trying to find an apartment, and getting in contact with the bishop in Memphis to see what we were in for. Well, we didn't find an apartment, so booked a hotel instead until we could find a hotel. Well, Monday, July 30, 2012 was the big day. We packed our car full, gave big hugs and kisses to our family members, and drove... and drove... and drove. We drove for 3 days to get to Memphis. We did stop for a while and stayed the night with my mom in Oklahoma. I was so nice to see her. Anyways, we got to Memphis, found his school and found that is was farther from where we planned to live then we thought. Good thing we didn't get an apartment.

So we found the perfect apartment for us. it is a 2x2 and sooooo cute and big. The Bishop we thought we would get that had helped us out so much had us over for dinner after we went to church with him and his wife. They were such a great couple. We are blessed to have had so much help from them.

This last Sunday we did get to go to our new and for sure ward and everyone was so friendly. Well, the older ones. The people our age, didn't even come up to us to say hi or anything. It was weird. Oh well. We are so excited to be apart of this ward and to meet and get to know them all. They have been so friendly and have already given us dinner invites and yummy treats. We won't even get me started on this moving company. HORRIBLE first experience with movers. We are not even recieving all of our stuff. 1/3 of our stuff is still in Fresno. Horrible. It does look like we might get it this weekend. YEAH!!!! Then I will finally have something to do other then go crazy in a house with just me and a two year old.

Well, wish us luck on this new journey through life.
I was kinda starting to feel left out. Well, I have to say I did it to myself because I had told Michael not to get me flower cause I just kill them anyways. Well, after that I decided I would never tell him that again. To make a long story short I got home before Michael and I was a little down in the dumps cause we were not able to go out that night either cause we didn't have a babysitter. When Michael came home he totally surprised me with yellow flower and told me I was the light of his life. and then gave me a bag full of all kinds of jewelry from Charming Charlies my favorite place in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!! All yellow! See photo below. Then the next day he got me a box of sees candy all Scotchmallow! yummy!

I threw in a couple of extra pictured of my little man! I just can't believe what a little man he is becoming!
Mom Vatcher, myself, Jennifer, and Megan all helped to put on this amazingly beautiful wedding! I am really looking forward to getting the pictures back from the reception! I did post a few pictures of what I was able to take with my phone, but not many!

My wonderful husband, with some help from our ward missionaries made the photo booth that I wanted jut the way I wanted it (see photo) and that was a huge hit at the wedding! Mom and Dad made all the food (crazy ppl) and I made eclairs (see picture the see the eclairs and the thief that stole a couple! Lol) and the cheesecake tarts! Meredith was so nice to make cake pops and Kristin's mom made homemade carmel. Jennifer also help by making some almond cookies. When I get the pictures I will most definitely post them for all to see!<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1cvYKcJPgrbh7apTSYoycOxD6PhYQKuudstBRc9oRNZHK548xmqAdU5w8K-1cZG6wZrD3cVSldSv16THcPAY1DFsatqLfV3I3_6hfzNNFn2jTwCEWecf0S7YThBrQy1w4gmdxJi3Hapk/s640/blogger-image--1308405494.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em;
